Overview
This work explores the design of a field guide focused on different trees found across North America. The goal was to create a publication that felt informative and visually engaging, while organizing a large amount of content into a format that was easy to navigate and understand.
The final design balances reference-based functionality with a more polished editorial approach, resulting in a guide that feels both structured and visually inviting.
Design Rationale
The design direction placed a strong emphasis on typography and colour as key tools for organization and clarity. Typography was used to establish hierarchy, making it easier to distinguish between headings, species information, and supporting details, while colour helped separate sections and improve navigation throughout the guide.
Careful attention was given to consistency, readability, and overall flow so the publication would feel cohesive across multiple pages. The final design aims to communicate information clearly while still feeling visually refined and engaging.
